He is survived by his wife Carol, 3 children, Lauren, Leslie (Taylor), and Caleb and grandchildren Aubrey and Benjamin.
As a young man, Laurence enjoyed traveling throughout much of BC and many friends affectionately remember his spirit of adventure.
One of Laurence's most memorable qualities was his ability to design and build just about anything. Right from childhood he designed and built bridges, go-carts, and two-story doghouses. During his working career these projects grew to include cranes, industrial buildings, and specialized machinery. Fondly called the absent-minded professor by some of his friends, Laurence always had a new and exciting project in mind and at any given time you could find him with a pencil and notebook in hand sketching up plans for his newest idea.
Laurence married Carol Smith on July 9, 1988 and together they had three children, Lauren (1992), Leslie (1995), and Caleb (2002).
Laurence loved Jehovah God and was baptized in 1994. He was proud to be called one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and did his utmost to live up to his dedication, working hard to instill a love for Jehovah in his children. In 2019, he enjoyed participating in the Northern Prairies preaching campaign in northern Alberta along with Carol and Caleb. During the trip he was happy to have the opportunity to preach to isolated communities as well as help others during the High Level fire.
Laurence always enjoyed road trips and camping.
He liked to head off the beaten path to see the landscapes and wildlife of the backcountry, often noting his appreciation for Jehovah's creation. Above all else, he made sure to be prepared with the tools and knowledge for any unexpected situations that might occur when venturing to these out-of-the-way places. He was always prepared for anything and ready to help anyone in need along the way.
In 2018, Laurence and his family welcomed granddaughter Aubrey to the family. Aubrey was the apple of Laurence’s eye and he would put off anything previously planned when Aubrey came for a visit. The two of them would putter about the yard and tinker in the shop and they both loved the time they spent together.
Laurence died just two weeks before the birth of his grandson Benjamin. He was looking forward to Benjamin’s arrival. His family looks forward to the time when Laurence will meet his grandson for the first time in the paradise to come.
Laurence's favourite scripture was Isaiah 65:22 where it says: “They will not build for someone else to inhabit, nor will they plant for others to eat. For the days of my people will be like the days of a tree, and the work of their hands my chosen ones will enjoy to the full.”
His family greatly anticipates the fulfillment of this scripture and takes comfort in looking ahead to the day when they will welcome him back to life on a paradise earth.
