Nancy Watson, or as most of us called her, Auntie Nancy, was born in Vancouver on February 17, 1934. She grew up and attended school in the Kitsilano area of Vancouver where she met James Clare Watson, whom most of us know as Uncle Jim. The two eloped to Coeur D’Alene Idaho in 1954, when Nancy was 20 years
old. Auntie Nancy and Uncle Jim were married for 71 years.
Jim and Nancy lived and worked in Vancouver for the duration of their working lives. Nancy’s career was spent as an office worker with CIBC until she retired. During her married life, she lived in lovely homes with her husband in Vancouver, Burnaby, Steveston, and Walnut Grove before settling into Promontory Lake Estates in Chilliwack. There they enjoyed an active community life with many friends and activities. Nancy was a talented quilter who exhibited her quilts at shows and blessed many family members with her amazing quilts. Nancy also enjoyed gardening, trips to Washington State, Hawaii, Alaska, and Green Lake, where they enjoyed camping for many years. Nancy and Jim partnered together to create her famous baking, and to entertain family and friends with delicious meals that were prepared with love and caring.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband Jim and will be lovingly remembered by family, friends, and five generations of nieces and nephews, who were cared for and supported by her for their entire lives.
Jim and Nancy were an example to our family of a committed, caring, and devoted relationship. This is part of her legacy to us. She was encouraging, she had a positive attitude, and she had a strong commitment to her values and family.
Nancy passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026 at Tabor Home in Abbotsford, BC. The family would like to thank the staff for all of the care and attention Nancy received while residing with Jim at Tabor Home.
