Arthur Allen Bernard, age 82, of Hot Springs, Arkansas passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025. He was born on October 19, 1942 in Lisbon, Ohio to the late Harry Lee and Esther Strohl Bernard. In addition to his parents, Arthur is preceded in death by his grandparents, Richards and Milbro Strohl.
Art lived a life of curiosity, adventure, and quiet wisdom. A proud graduate of Oakridge High School, Oakridge, Oregon, he went on to earn a professional degree in metallurgical engineering from the Colorado School of Mines, a career that took him across the country from the Northeast, the Pacific Northwest, and the Southwest. He made his mark in each place he called home before settling in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Art had a deep love for history, often getting lost in books that transported him to the past, and an ear finely tuned to the melodies of country music. But above all, he was a devoted father, and his daughters will forever cherish the memories of their camping trips to national and state parks, where they shared laughter, stories, and the beauty of the great outdoors. His legacy lives on in the places he explored, the knowledge he shared, and the love he gave so freely.
Those left to cherish Art's memory included his beloved wife of 60 years, Linda Bernard; his daughters, Rebecca (Richard) Klar and Nancy (David) Gambill; granddaughters, Alexandra (Jacob) Goetz, Carolyn Klar, Alison Gambill; as well as the residents and staff of The Atrium.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to Boy Scouts of America or the Garland County Library.
