Born October 11, 1938 in Elk City Oklahoma to C.P. and Yvonne Blackmore, Charlie grew up in Canute Oklahoma where he played Basketball, Baseball, played in his class play, and served as Class President.
He spent his summers helping his dad work the cotton fields and giving his sisters, who affectionately called him Bud, a hard time. In 1957 he moved to Dallas Texas where he began working for AT&T. He played on their men's baseball and basketball team as well as coaching the telephone company women’s basketball team. It was during this time that he made many lifetime friendships and met the love of his life, Valdene. They were married on July 24, 1965 and made their home in Dallas. He was later transferred to Kansas City Missouri where they added their daughter, Dawn through adoption in 1973 and Charlie was ordained as a Deacon at Glenview Baptist Church. In 1977 the family moved to Benton Arkansas and Charlie worked for Southwestern Bell where he retired after over 33 years as an area electrical engineer manager.
He was the BIGGEST Oklahoma Sooner fan and was even known to go to Hawaii so he could watch a game that was only being televised there. (His wife and daughter appreciated the vacation with him) He was an avid gardener with a garden big enough to feed the whole neighborhood. Charlie was a proud member of Celebration Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. More than anything he enjoyed spending time with his family where his proudest name was Husband, Daddy and Poppa.
