Dave Allen McPherson, 91, passed away on May 27, 2025, in Little Rock, Arkansas. Born on October 5, 1933, in the same city he called home, throughout his life, Dave left behind a legacy of service, joy, and unwavering devotion to those around him. A proud graduate of Central High School in Little Rock, Dave went on to serve his country with honor as a member of the United States Army. During his military service, he was stationed in France—a time he cherished deeply—not only for the experience but also for the opportunity to play with the French International Basketball Team. His love for basketball extended far beyond his military years; back home in Arkansas, he could often be found practicing and playing at MacArthur Park alongside notable players such as Geese Ausbie, Chester Lane, Ray Paladino, and Charles Taylor.
Professionally, Dave was a Box Container Engineer, Designer, and Salesman—a career that combined creativity with practicality. He took great pride in his work and often joked that if it came in a box, you had him to thank. His dedication to his craft was matched only by his commitment to people. Dave’s life was defined by service and connection. A devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he found great purpose in ministering to others. Whether through weekly or monthly phone calls or spontaneous acts of kindness, Dave made it a point to check in on family and friends regularly. His presence was a steady source of comfort and encouragement. Outside of work and church service, Dave embraced life with enthusiasm. He loved spending weekends on his boat and was an avid skier—both on water and snow. He and wife Linda, spent a lot of time using the diesel truck he was gifted at his retirement to pull their RV. He enjoyed playing tennis, basketball, and dominoes well into his later years and took pride in maintaining his yard. He also loved a good bowl of ice cream. But above all else, he treasured time spent with family and friends.
Dave is remembered by his children: Alan Ray Martin; Raine and Danny Munson; Chuck and Ramona Caldwell; Nicole and Jeff Johnson; Tasha and Doug Denton, and Kurt Bock; along with 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law Lynda Kersen. He now joins those who preceded him in death: his father Nathaniel McPherson; mother, Myrtle Lee Marie Terry; step-father, Dean Guill; sisters Deloris McPherson, Doris McPherson, Lois Morgan, Janet Weathers; brother, Buddy McPherson; brother-in-law, Jim Morgan, beloved wife, Linda Sue (Spires) McPherson; and son, Freed Caldwell. Dave Allen McPherson lived each day with purpose—seeking out ways to uplift others through kindness, faith, laughter, and love. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
