

Doris Aillene Cornell Knight, a faithful follower and servant of Jesus Christ, died March 27, 2024. She was predeceased by her husband, Edwin, and a daughter and son-in-law Kalla (Isaac) Byrd, of Medford Lakes, NJ. She was born September 9,1927 in Little Rock, AR and attended Central High School and Ouachita Baptist University. She graduated from OBU at the age of 19 and moved to Gillette, Arkansas to teach math. She would meet her future husband (Edwin) there and remain married for 69 years until his death. She would get her master’s degree in math from the University of Florida attending school in the summer for four consecutive years. She taught school in Gillette, Stuttgart, and New Jersey. She was popular as a teacher and voted class sponsor several times in Stuttgart. She loved serving people by going on Christian mission trips to Thailand, Vietnam, China, the Philippines, and American Samoa. After retirement, in Little Rock she taught English as a Second Language putting her teaching skills to good use. She was loved by her ESL students as she prepared each lesson as you would for a final exam. She is survived by two children Ed (Lynne) Knight of Little Rock and Pam (Jim) Elliff of Kansas City MO, nine grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Parkway Place Baptist Church in Little Rock on August 17, 2024 at 10 am.
