John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son and friend. John was a retired loss control engineer for Travelers Insurance. During World War 2, John served his country proudly in the United States Air Corp. Shortly after his service, he met and married the love of his life, Vivian (“Baje”) and the two were married for 66 years, during which time they raised sons, John and Larry. He was an amazing caregiver to Vivian for the last years of her life, before her passing in 2016. He and Vivian were faithful members of Geyer Springs United Methodist Church for 65 years, where they both were spiritually devout. John loved his family, especially his two granddaughters, who were the light of his life. He enjoyed cooking big holiday meals for the family. John was known for his gardening and everyone enjoyed his delicious tomatoes, among many other vegetables he grew. He was the neighbor that was always willing to help others and the pet lover who would make sure all the strays were fed. He was an avid Razorback and Chicago Cubs fan. You could not meet a kinder and gentler soul than John.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Larry Bencick (Connie Morgan); granddaughters, Lauren Bencick (Joshua Askins) and Lindsay Bencick; brother-in-law, Thomas Larry Green (Deanie); cat, Haley Ann; granddog, Freckles; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Nell Bencick; son, John Thomas Bencick; and parents, John V. and Agnes Bencick.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at 12:00 pm at Pinecrest Funeral Home, with a visitation starting one hour prior.
