Lois Marie Edwards Threet

Lois Marie Edwards Threet was born in the West Rock Addition of Little Rock, Arkansas on June 17, 1928. She was the eldest child of Thelma Duhart Edwards and James Levester Edwards. God called her home on Sunday morning, February 26, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Edwards and Thelma Duhart Himes, her sister, Frances Edwards Greenwood and her youngest child, Clyde Gregory Threet.

Lois attended school in the Little Rock School District and graduated from Dunbar High School in January, 1946. She attended Dunbar Junior College before continuing her education at Roosevelt College in Chicago, Illinois. While in Chicago she attended a game at Ebbets Field on April 15, 1947 and witnessed Jackie Robinson’s first major league baseball game. Upon returning to Little Rock, she married the love of her life, Frank McKinley Threet, on July 26, 1948. Three children were born to this union, Lois Diane, Frank Howard and Clyde Gregory.

Lois accepted Christ at Pilgrim Rest in July, 1938, under the leadership of Rev. J. D. Barnes, and remained a member until her death. She was a member of the choir, Sunday school and BTU at a young age. She became a member of Mission Ministry, the Mothers Board and taught in Vacation Bible School. When Pilgrim Rest was displaced by urban renewal, Lois was one of the founding members of the Eveready Fellowship, which was organized to provide a sense of unity to the membership. Training Union, Vacation Bible School, and the Usher Board.

Lois loved to travel and she loved people. She was a member of the Dunbar High School Alumni Association and was one of the organizers of the Threet-Storay Family Reunion. She traveled far and wide with her children, and later with her grandchildren.

She leaves to cherish her memory: daughter Lois Diane Threet, son Frank Howard Threet (Theressa), brother Clyde Edwards (LaGussie); grandchildren Ronald Smith, Alicia Nelson, Tony Nelson, Douglas Threet (Tenivia), Christian Threet, Lesa Neely Mayer (Rudy Vazquez), Andrea Threet, Kyle Threet (Robyn) and Marc Threet; 7 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; her dear “childen” Russell and Joyce Guess, Kay Pansy and Diane Carr.

Visitation will be Friday, March 10, 2023 from 6-8PM Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, 3801 Springer Blvd, Little Rock, AR, 72206. Funeral Services will be Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 11:00AM at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church. Burial will take place Monday, March 13, 2023 at 11:30AM at the Little Rock National Cemetery, 2523 Springer Blvd, Little Rock, AR, 72206.
