Maurice was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Runnells; his sons, Richard Runnells and Jeffrey Runnells (Gail); and his cherished grandchildren, Justin, Jacob, and Joshua.
He was preceded in death by his son Michael, his sister Theta Smith, and his parents, Maurice H. Runnells and Inez Runnells.
Maurice had a lifelong interest in ancestry research and spent countless hours tracing family histories, preserving stories, and honoring the generations who came before him. He also enjoyed the occasional trip to the casino. He was devoted to his dogs, especially Buddy and Sweets.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 21, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Pinecrest Funeral Home in Alexander, Arkansas. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park.
