

Patsy’s greatest joy was her family. She cherished being a mother and especially treasured her role as “Mimi,” a title she wore with pride and love. She shared a close bond with her daughter, Ellen Hammond, and adored her grandson, Tyler Dean Phillips, who brought her endless happiness.
A woman of many talents, Patsy found peace and fulfillment in reading, gardening, and horses. She was deeply creative and skilled in cross-stitching, knitting, sewing, and quilting.
Patsy dedicated over 40 years of her professional life to the Arkansas Department of Education, where she was known for her commitment, reliability, and strong work ethic. Her long career reflected her sense of responsibility and service to others.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dean Hammond; her mother, Maudie Smith-Sayler; and her father, Johnnie Smith.
She is survived by her daughter, Ellen Hammond; her grandson, Tyler Dean Phillips; her brother, Johnnie Smith (Cissy) of Texarkana; and Deborah Garrett of Dallas, along with other family members and friends who will cherish her memory.
Patsy will be remembered for her gentle spirit, steady presence, and the love she poured into her family and the simple joys of life. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at 1:00 PM with a visitation starting one hour prior at Pinecrest Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
