Paula Ann Hunter, 74, of Bryant, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 19th, 2021. She was born on January 17, 1947, to Leon and LaVon Ferguson. Paula loved people and there is an endless list of people that she touched and that have enjoyed her sincere friendship, caring spirit and love for helping others. She pursued her passion for loving children through her career as a teacher, specializing in gifted and talented students. Besides enjoying being a mother to two of her own, Jeff and Stacey, she thoroughly relished her role as a grandmother (Nena) to her special three grandsons, Drew, Hunter and Tyler and a loving aunt to many nephews and nieces. She spent countless hours playing with them, buying them special gifts and taking them on trips.
Paula loved her Lord and her church, Geyer Springs First Baptist Church, and not only was married there to her husband Ron Hunter on August 17, 1968, at age 21, but was a very active member there on the day of her passing at age 74. Paula and Ron just celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary.
She will be missed for so many reasons but one of those will certainly be her natural interest in other people and how she would deeply invest in personal relationships. Friends from her Bible study group share that she was the glue that held the group together. She loved working in her garden, reading her Bible, and going on trips. In fact, she and Ron were preparing to leave on a trip on the very day she became ill.
Paula is survived by her loving husband, Ron Hunter, her son Jeff Hunter and his wife, Tina, and her brother Mike Ferguson and his wife, Lyn, as well as her grandsons, Drew Hunter, Hunter Harrison and Tyler Harrison. She was pre-deceased by her mother, LaVon, her father, Leon, her brother, Robert (Bob), and her daughter, Stacey.
A memorial service for Paula will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 24th at Geyer Springs First Baptist Church, located at 12400 I-30 in Little Rock. Visitation to begin at 1:30 PM. Masks are encouraged for the protection of all. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to either Geyer Springs First Baptist Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
