Randall “Randy” Lynn Curtis, age 65, passed away on October 3, 2023 due to complications following a bravely fought two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer. Randy spent his last days at his home surrounded by the family and friends that meant so much to him. He was born on March 31, 1958, in Pine Bluff, AR. Randy is survived by his wife of 45 years, Cindy, a loving son, Jonathan Curtis (Britney, whom he loved as a daughter) of Benton, and a precious grandson, Grayson Randall Curtis. He also leaves behind two sisters, Beverly Riggins of Siloam Springs, and Karen Holland (Eddie) of Beebe, a brother, Gary Curtis (Cindy) of Springdale, an uncle, Larry Christian of Beebe, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, cousins and countless other relatives and friends all of which he loved dearly. Randy was preceded in death by a son Tyler Curtis and his parents, Margie and Heulan Curtis.
Randy enjoyed sports throughout his life, both as a player and as a spectator. While attending Pine Bluff High School he enjoyed playing football and baseball, however, his real passion was baseball. Randy was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies organization the summer after graduating high school. Even though his time in professional baseball ended after just a couple of years, having the opportunity to play pro ball was a dream come true for him. Randy later had a wonderful career with the Altria Group where he made many special and lasting friendships before retiring in 2012. Randy enjoyed retirement to the absolute fullest. He loved spending time with family and friends, working on projects around his home and property, and helping others with their projects (especially his good friend and neighbor, Mike Sedder). Randy was a true Razorback fan and loved watching and cheering for the Hogs. Finding the time to go fishing was always a priority and Lake Ouachita was his favorite fishing destination. Randy’s greatest joy for the last three years was his grandson, Grayson. All anyone had to do to get a big smile from “Pops” was to mention his little buddy.
The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful people at CARTI for treating Randy with great kindness and compassion. Immeasurable appreciation goes to Dr. Grace Raja, her wonderful staff, and the absolute angels in the CARTI Infusion area for the incredible way they cared for Randy. The family also wishes to thank Dr. Peter Kim, Dr. Ali Kahn, Dr.Dhaval Patel, and Dr. Matt Wilson for the exceptional care they provided Randy.
The family also wishes to thank Gentiva Hospice, especially Mary Ann, Lauren, Diane, and Gaye who were so good to Randy during his last days.
