Walter joined the Navy in 1956 and then married Janet St. John in 1964 and they were married for 60 years. He was an electronic tech for most of his life and in his free time he enjoyed woodworking and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Janet St. John; his children, Catherine Connell (Rob) of Hot Springs, Karen St. John of Fort Worth, Amy Tarvin (Jerald) of Hot Springs; grandchildren, Hunter Connell (Taylor), Ashley Costa, Trinity Tarvin; and five great grandchildren; sister, Wanda Farmer. He is preceded in death by brothers James St. John and Bobby Phillips.
