Marco y familia, sabes bien lo que Alvarito fue para Edgar y para mí, junto a tu mami con quien se encuentra ahora fueron nuestros padres adoptivos en Dc, tengo tantos recuerdos increíbles, tantas anécdotas… que no me alcanzan en este espacio. Fue un hombre en todo sentido, vivió su vida como buen cristiano, excelente amigo , amoroso esposo, padre y abuelo.  Traté de visitarlo las dos últimas veces que estuve por allá, pero no tuve respuesta de los los teléfono ni de él ni tuyos. Sabía que sería mi despedida.  Le pido a Dios les de mucha Fortaleza, créeme que he recibido está noticia como la manera triste de terminar el año. Que descanse en Paz mi amigo querido. Alvaro fue un maravilloso amigo y colaborador con la familia costarricense en Washington DC.  Siempre estuvo dispuesto a ayudar, a decir un chiste, a bailar … en fin … un dolor perder a tan buen amigo.  Zaida Arguedas, Bethesda, Maryland.

A wonderful and unique human being has passed through this life.

Whether we met through the many fiestas, gatherings, boat outings and dinners that you and my family enjoyed at my parent’s house in years gone by, or as Mt. Vernon neighbors or through work or play, I want you each to know that I sincerely appreciate the thoughts you’ve expressed to me on learning of my dad’s passing.  Thank you for every dream you helped my dad realize, for the wonderful experiences you shared with him, for creating the happiness and laughter that was such a big part of his life and for giving him all the wonderful memories of the past that I know helped to carry him through the twilight of his life. I hope that all of you who knew my dad, and my friends who never got to meet my dad, will see, in me, a little of the beautiful person that my dad was and that I know he wanted me to be.  Whether you knew my dad or not, you, my friends and my family, have always made me feel surrounded by good and loving people who I know care about me, and I feel lucky and blessed to know each and every one of you. Thank you all so much.
