Brenna will be deeply missed by her loving family and friends. She leaves behind her mother, Maureen Trimber Kirby, her father and stepmother, Grant and Julie Kirby, her brother Steven and his fiancée Heather, her sister Katlyn and husband Jeremiah, and her sister Mackenzie, as well as her paternal grandmother Caroline Michaels. Brenna leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Brenna’s faithful companion, her German Shepherd, Zelda, will also miss her.
Brenna was born January 12, 1998, in Annapolis, Maryland. Brenna attended various schools in Alexandria, VA and graduated from West Potomac High School in 2016. Brenna lived in both Alexandria and in Gambrills, MD, spending time with both her parents. After high school graduation, she attended Anne Arundel Community College as well as holding down several different jobs. She was a lifeguard, worked at numerous restaurants including Primos in Alexandria, VA and Three Brothers in Odenton, MD, as well as some retail positions.
Brenna was known for her beautiful smile which could light up a room, and for the care and love she poured out onto family, friends and even those she didn’t know. She was always willing to lend a hand, to try to help as she could, and was so gentle and loving with each of her grandparents. She loved being outdoors, especially by the water. She travelled quite a bit in the US and had dreams to see more, hoping to make it to the wilds of Alaska someday. She loved music and had recorded and shared several videos of her singing her favorite songs, a love she got from her mom. She was also a talented artist, frequently drawing and writing poetry, a love she got from her dad and shared with her sisters. Brenna, in that challenging role of middle child, was frequently the glue that tied us all together. At the time of her passing, Brenna gave her final gift to others as an organ donor. Brenna’s kind spirit, her joy for life, and her laughter will be missed by many.
Brenna was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Connell and Mary Anne Trimber, her paternal grandfathers, Royal Kirby and Mike Michaels, and her step grandparents, Thomas and Margaret Floyd.
Visitation services for Brenna will be held at Demaine Funeral Home in Alexandria, VA on October 14, 2024. A funeral mass will be held on October 15, 2024, at the Basilica of St. Mary, followed by the inurnment of her ashes at St. Mary’s Cemetery, also located in Alexandria, VA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Brenna’s honor to the ASPCA, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or the Manatee Rescue & Rehabilitation Partnership.
