Her heart gave out on Wednesday February 20, 2013 at age 54 after a 6 week battle with a monster infection.
She was predeceased by her father, and a younger brother.
A long time resident of Alexandria, she attended the local schools until moving overseas at age 10. She lived with her grandparents Edward and Marian Little in Switzerland, and then in Chad where her grandfather served as the American Ambassador. She moved back to the area in the late 1970’s where she volunteered with the American Red Cross. She then acquired a commercial driver’s license and drove a private bus, shuttling the elderly or anybody traveling in or out of Washington DC. She was also a member of NORVANA for many years. During this time she made many loving friends. Her loving, generous, fun-loving spirit touched all who knew her and she will be missed by all.
Survivors include her mother Ginger Marlatt, 3 sisters; Lisa Searight, Gwen Marlatt Vela, and Andrya Marlatt. Twin niece and nephew Ameli and Che Marlatt Vela, a step-brother Kenneth Smith, her Aunt Jean Willard, Cousins Robert and Loraine Little, her God Child, Cary (Junior) Lindberg Irving, her beloved Cocker Spaniel Mikee, and so many friends, they are too numerous to list.
A visitation will be held at Demaine Funeral Home, 520 S. Washington St. Alexandria, VA 22314 on Saturday February 23, 2013 from 3 to 5PM. A funeral service will follow on Sunday February 24, 2013 at 2PM in the Demaine Funeral Home Chapel. Contributions in Cary’s name will be appreciated either by NORVANA or the American Red Cross.
