General Slewitzke was the 17th Chief of the Army Nurse Corps, serving in the Pentagon, 1983 to retirement in 1987. Her distinguished career in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps began in October 1957. She had many important nursing assignments including tours in Vietnam during the war and in Germany. After retirement she served as 1st Vice President of the Women in Military Service for America Foundation, Inc., Arlington, Virginia. Many friends, former U.S. Army and other military personnel remember her fondly and will want to honor her memory.
