David Matthew Trefry

David Matthew Trefry, age 39, died on Friday, January 17, 2014 of complications following two major back surgeries. Dave was born on Memorial Day, May 27, 1974, in Alexandria, VA. He resided in Fairfax, VA where he worked as a professional barber for 13 years. He graduated from Hayfield High School in Fairfax County where he excelled in athletics, actively participating on the baseball and football teams. An avid Redskins fan, Dave enjoyed watching sports all his life. Dave also attended Northern Virginia Community College where he studied English literature. He was an avid reader of philosophy, Buddhism, and history. Dave loved to tell a story, engage in thought-provoking conversations, watch movies, and listen to all genres of music.

Survivors include his wife, Effrossini Dianelli, was a beloved son of Patricia Gill Street and William Joseph Trefry Jr., brother of William Joseph Trefry III, and grandson of Mildred Gill and Helen Trefry. Dave is also survived by many other relatives and friends, including his sister-in-law, Leigh Bradley Trefry, and Gregory J. Street.

Relatives and friends are welcome at the Demaine Funeral Home, 520 S. Washington Street, Alexandria, VA 22314, on Friday evening, January 24, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm., where a funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 25 at 11:00 am, followed by a burial service at Mount Comfort Cemetery.
