Esther Ronan

Esther Tresidder Ronan (age 96) on April 5th, 2019. Born in Cornwall, England in 1923. She served as a sergeant in the Women's Auxiliary of the British Army in WW2 at which time she met the late Thomas T. Ronan in England while in the service. They married in 1944 and came to the US in 1947 on the Queen Mary. They established residency in Alexandria, Virginia and had three children, Peter Ronan (Mary Frances), Marie White (Paul Johnson), and Maureen Ridout. She worked at Penny’s for a few years, and later worked as a volunteer at the Select Seconds Store. Over the years she remained a woman of amazing stamina and resilience, springing back from a fall that broke her leg a few years ago in addition to several bouts of pneumonia. She continued to live at home and had the assistance of several home care workers over the past few years. Up until the last weeks of her life she enjoyed shopping and going out to lunch every week with her son Pete and daughter Marie. She loved to read most of all, and enjoyed working puzzles. She survived by her children, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. A wake service in the in the funeral home on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A graveside service will be held in the Quantico National Cemetery on Wednesday, April 10 at 12:00 PM
