Heidrun "Heidi" Elder

On Sunday, April 23, 2017 Heidi Elder of Alexandria VA, entered heavens gates after a short battle with cancer at the Mount Vernon Nursing Rehab Center in Alexandria VA surrounded by her loving partner of 30 years Peter A. Celio. Heidi was born in Berlin, Germany on May 26, 1943 to the late Hildegard (Schoof) and Rudolf Wiere. Heidi is survived by her partner Peter A. Celio of Alexandria VA, son David H. Elder of Kailua-Kona Hawaii, sister Frau Helga Hofer of Karlsruhe Germany, and brother and sister in law Dietrich & Inga Wiere of Twedter-Berg Germany, and Peter’s children, their spouses and grandchildren.

Heidi had lived in the Northern VA area for over 50 years. She was employed for many years in the Airline Industry working for USAirways in Arlington VA and continued her career with the Institute for Defense Analysis (IDA) of Alexandria VA until 2008 when she retired. Heidi enjoyed traveling, reading, watching and playing the stock market. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching and cheering on the Washington Redskins and the Nationals.

The family extends their thanks to the nurses at Capital Caring Hospice who were very professional and helpful to Heidi. Also special thanks to the staff at Mount Vernon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their care and compassion in Heidi’s time of need.
