On November 13, 2019 Katherine E. St. John died peacefully at the Belvoir Woods Retirement Community. She was the long-time Librarian at Stratford Landing Elementary School in Mt. Vernon. Kay was an Army Wife and an Army Daughter, the widow of COL Lawrence R. St. John and the daughter of BG Carl A. Baehr and Emilie Bischoff Baehr. She received a BA from Oklahoma College for Women (1936) and an MLS from Catholic University (1968). As an equestrian, Kay had helped exercise the horses for the 1936 US Army Olympic team. From 1958 she was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church Alexandria: a Vestry Member, Lay Reader, and Chalicer. She i survived by her daughter Helen L. St. John and was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her siblings - MAJ Carl Baehr, Jr and Betty B. Baehr. Her Funeral will be Friday, November 22, 2019 11:00AM at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 8009 Fort Hunt Road, Alexandria VA 22308 with future Interment at Arlington National Cemetery.
