TRIBUTE TO FAMILY, FRIENDS AND ACQUAINTANCES OF LORETTA, DAVID, RYAN AND ERIC: While in Alexandria, I was so impressed by the support offered by all of you. I heard the stories of how so many of you stepped to the plate when Loretta was battling her illness. I saw how some came great distances to pay their final respects. Others who could not physically be there called with their condolences. All those who were present in Virginia and Maryland jumped in and did whatever was necessary to help Loretta's immediate and extended family. So many people outdid themselves in preparation for Loretta's lovely church service. It comforts me to know that this support will continue when the routine of life begins again for David, Ryan, Eric and all those that loved Loretta. Thanks so much for all your unselfish support.

TRIBUTE TO LORETTA: When you were diagnosed years ago with cancer few expected you to make it. You surprised us all by hanging in there for over 10 years. A determined fighter you were! You made the most of your short time on this earth by doing the things in life that should hold the most priorities for all of us...spending time with your loving husband, two young children and your wonderful family and friends. What I found especially impressive was the efforts you and David made to make sure Eric and Ryan fully understood your illness, its severity and possible outcome. You prepared them by being honest and letting them know that no discussion was off limits in terms of what they might be feeling. I truly feel these preparations have made Eric and Ryan stronger and better to cope with life from here on out. I also thank you for confiding in your girlfriends and sister as to your final wishes. As difficult as I can only imagine them to be, your preparations made it so much easier for David and the boys. I thank you so much for being so thoughtful and strong for those that you loved.

TRIBUTE TO MY AWESOME BROTHER AND HIS TWO WONDERFUL BOYS: When I heard the news of Loretta's passing I hurried home to be by your sides, thinking that you would be weak and falling apart. How wrong I was. Instead I found you brother a bit somber, but still your calm, level-headed self and taking control of a very painful situation. For the entire week, prior to Loretta's service, your cell phone rang constantly. You answered it every time with calmness and courtesy, regardless if the calls were business or personal. Anyone else would have shut the phone off and found a private place to weep. Not you. You were as strong as a rock. Not only did you take care of business, but you took care of your boys, Eric and Ryan. You tried to keep things as normal and supportive as possible. 

Of course you boys came through for your Dad. Eric, you kept busy redecorating Grandma and PopPop's shed and crafting loving gifts for your Mom....a necklace, bracelet and a keepsake box with her photo attached to the lid. Meanwhile Ryan, you patiently hung out with us boring adults while keeping a close eye on your Daddy. No one could wish for more thoughtful children. Thank you both for being there for my brother.

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

David, Ryan and Eric -- sifting through our photos this week it hit us so hard that we have spent almost every graduation, family celebration, birthday and holiday as well as even a vacation with you and Loretta for the past several years.  We cannot imagine what New Years Eve will be like without Loretta singing Karaoke or what the Fourth of July Fireworks will be like without her famous deviled eggs.  We will miss so many things about Loretta and have been so fortunate to have had the opportunity to have been her friend.  She has raised two incredibly kind hearted, polite and genuine boys and we know Ryan and Eric will have many wonderful memories to cherish and will be great men like their dad in large part because of Loretta's strong influence.  The support you have between the three of you as well as with your parents, sisters and close friends are a tribute to what a wonderful person Loretta was, and how loved you all are.  Please know that we are always close by and that you can count on us.  We may even share a few of Loretta's secret recipes that we have stolen through the years.  Loretta -- we will miss you so much.  There was still so much more we wanted to say and do with you.  We only wish there were more time.  Thanks for your friendship.  We will treasure it forever. We are so sorry to hear about the loss of Loretta Berard and just wanted to take a moment to offer our condolences to the family. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Even though you have left our sides, I know you are looking down upon us. I will miss your smile, and your true friendship. I am going to miss being able to pick up the phone and talk to you. I know eventually I will heal, and I will always treasure the memories of you and the fun times we had hanging out.I feel very lucky to have had such a true friend. Words could never properly express the depth or magnitude of our sorrow at hearing of your passing. I shall miss your quick wit, sense of humor and of course that warm smile you gave to everyone you knew. Loretta we loved you from the start. From Lake Winnapasaki, to Lake Powell to Bucks Lake our memories of you will always be treasured. You were a wonderful sister-in-law. You truely will be missed. May we meet again. All our love.

You are in my thoughts and prayers.  I am deeply saddened to hear of Loretta's passing.  I wish I knew what to say but words just aren't enough.  Though we won't see her again in this lifetime, I'm sure we will see her again.

It is with such deep sorrow that we have to say goodbye to such a precious life.  Loretta, you and I had such fun when we were kids.  We were great friends in both the Mount Vernon Guard and Job’s Daughters.  Our physical paths have not crossed in several years which feels like such a long time, but you have always been in my thoughts and my prayers.  I know you are now at peace and without pain.  I will miss you, Loretta, with all my heart.

I am deeply saddened to learn of Loretta's passing.  We both spent many, many years with the Mount Vernon Guard Fife & Drum Corps.  During our time in the Guard, Loretta was like a very cool big sister to all of us and I believe I echo the sentiment of everyone who was in the Guard when I say that she is sorely missed.  My heart goes out to you, Lois, and the rest of your family.

May the light of the eternal candle forever show you and your loved ones the way.  There are no words that can express the loss felt by all of us left behind.  We will forever remember and cherish the friendship and loving memories that you so skillfully crafted for all who knew you.  Always a strong and beautiful person and now a loving angel.  For all who knew you very well, we know that you will be as organized and thrifty in heaven as you were here on earth.  You have joined a great many friends and family who have earned their wings as well. As we stand on earth we know all too well that we will rejoin you in heaven all in due time.  We love you and we will all miss you very much.  We will stand behind David, Ryan and Eric to help them through the most difficult times in their lives.  We are truly blessed to have lived, laughed, loved, cried, and lost together for so many years.

We are lost for words with the passing of our great friend Loretta. She has touched our family and our lives like no one else could come close to. Over the times that we have shared, we laughed, we cried, we shared so many things that we can't list all the memories that we have shared. You will be missed by all of us. Ryan and Eric will grow up to be wonderful young men. You have instilled the right things in their life. Dave will be fine. Though it will be hard for him at times, he is strong and a great man. You have left with many loving people here to help with your family. We will miss you Loretta forever. Wishing you Eternal peace and Godspeed. We Love You!
