Passed away on Friday, October 21, 2022. Louis was born on April 14, 1936 in East Liverpool, Ohio. He was the first born to the late Louis L. Klepec and Anna Ister Klepec. Louis grew up in the small steel mill town of Beaver, Pennsylvania where he attended catholic school and graduated from Beaver High in 1953. After graduation, at age 17, Louis enlisted in the United States Army where he served honorably for twenty years, during the Korean and Vietnam Wars, retiring on August 31, 1973. Specializing in data processing and database management, Louis’ overseas assignments also included a tour in Germany. It was during one of his first assignments at Fort Drum that he met the love of his life, Evelyn Loretta Chevalier. They were married on October 6, 1956 and celebrated their 62nd anniversary in 2018. During his military career, Louis obtained his BS in Business Statistics/ADP at Mississippi State University and his MS, in Management/ADP from George Washington University.
MSgt Klepec's numerous military awards include the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal for Korea, the Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, 4 Bronze Service Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Tech Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Good Conduct Medal (6 awards) National Defense Service Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal. After his service in the US Army, Louis worked for TRW as a Project Manager and Database Engineer. He finished his career with Northrup Grumman as a Systems Engineer until his retirement in 2005.
Louis achieved great success in his life through hard work, discipline, dedication and the persistent encouragement of his wife. A resident of Alexandria, Virginia for over 50 years, he treasured the many friendships made and nurtured over the years. Louis is remembered for his kindness, generosity and active support of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, Fort Myer, and Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Alexandria. His best moments in life were spent with his family especially his seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Louis is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Evelyn Klepec. He was the loving father of Lou (Judee) Klepec, Linda (Cary) Huffman, and Barbara (Craig) King. Louis cherished and was very proud of each one his seven grandchildren, Jason (Julie), Ashlee (Parker), Hillary, Cary (Cate), Melody (Corbin), Jacob and Katie (Nick) and his four great-grandchildren Colton, Mason, Charlotte, and Maggie. He was the devoted brother of Regis (Pam) and is preceded in death by his father, Louis L. Klepec Sr. and mother, Anna Ister Klepec. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, October 28, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Alexandria, Virginia. Interment will be scheduled for a later date at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in the name of Louis L. Klepec to the Disabled American Veterans at dav.org.
