

MOLLI Colonel LOUIS J. MOLLI, USA (Ret.) On July 26, 2012 of Alexandria, VA. Devoted husband of 60 years to Giovanna Molli. Colonel Molli received his higher education at Ohio State University earning his Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy in 1948. Prior to this time, he had served in World War II, participating in the African and Italian campaigns from 1943 to 1946. Colonel Molli was called to active duty from the National Guard in 1951 and served with the 37th Infantry Division as the Division Medical Supply Officer and later served in Europe in the 8th and 399th Evacuation Hospitals. From 1953 to 1962, assignments were in the medical supply field in Fort Meade, Maryland, Italy and William Beaumont General Hospital. In 1962, Colonel Molli was transferred to Korea with duty as Assistant to the Surgeon, 1st Cavalry Division. He later served in France as Commander of the 77th Medical Depot, USAREUR and in 1965, assumed duty as Chief, Supply and Service and later Executive Officer of the 45th Field Hospital, Vicenza, Italy. After a tour in Vietnam, he was reassigned to the 45th Field Hospital as Executive Officer of the Southern European Task Force (SETAF) MEDDAC and later assigned to the Military District of Washington as Executive Officer to the Surgeon at Ft. McNair, Washington, DC. He concluded his military career as the Commanding Officer of the U.S. Army Medical Material Center in Germany and retired in 1975 after thirty years of military service. His decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster and the Vietnam Service Medal. An avid tennis player, he won the 1959 USAREUR Tennis Championship. He is survived by his three daughters, Marylou Molli (Rick), Marilyn Valdez (Frank), and Lisa Tierney (Pat) and his two sons, Mark Molli (Janey) and John Molli (Stacey), ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The family will welcome friends at the Demaine Funeral Home in Alexandria on Friday, August 3 from 4 to 6 p.m. Funeral services with full military honors will be held at Ft. Myer Chapel on Friday, November 9 at 2:45p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association
