
Born in Washington, DC, and passed away on 3/24/2022.
She was preceded in death by husband Stephen R. Madison and sister-in-law Pamela “Cindy” Madison. Survived by daughter Heather Gutshall,, daughter Erin Smith, mother-in-law Mary Madison, sister-in-law Linda Eddins (Joe Barry), brother-in-law William Madison (Coleen), and an abundance of treasured friends. Grandchildren Ryan Campbell Gutshall, USAF, Alexander Smith, Olivia Smith, and Josephine Stoutzenberger, beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family. She is also forever grateful to be a member of the Stuart, Eddins and Madison families.
A graduate of The Corcoran School of Art and Design, Marcia enjoyed a long, award-winning career as a creative director working with national and international corporations, sassociations and government agencies. After retirement she taught at The Art League School; Trinity Preschool; and St. Stephen's St. Agnes School. She was a long-time member of the Art Directors Club of Metropolitan Washington.
Marcia was an active member of her church and community, where she led various programs and taught children’s Sunday school classes. She was a regular volunteer with The Summer Opera Theater Company and the Friends of the Torpedo Factory Art Center.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Handsome Dan’s Rescue, Washington Street United Methodist Church, or Capital Caring Hospice.
Memorial Service at Washington Street United Methodist Church on 4/2/22 at 11AM. Service in the sanctuary with reception to follow in Fellowship Hall.
