Mary Theresa McGurk

On Monday, February 26, 2024, Mary T. McGurk of Arlington, Virginia passed away at the Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington, VA. She was married to Frank W. McGurk (deceased) for 58 years. Mary is survived by her son Wayne (Jenny) of Ocean Isle Beach NC, Christopher (Deceased) and daughter Allison of Arlington VA. Loving Grandmother of Zachary (Amanda), Brittany (Adam), Spencer (Jenna), Elaina and Ansley. She loved taking care of her family and took immense pride in her great grandchildren Sage, Betty, Ronan and Emma. She would spend countless hours scrolling through their pictures and would chastise her children when she did not get her daily allotment of new pictures of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mary was born in Cambridge, MA to the late Vasco and Anne (O’Connell) Lima. She was sister to the late Vasco Lima and Elizabeth Sullivan and many nieces and nephews. She had a distinguished career as a military spouse (over 20 years) and had many additional careers including legal, education, marketing, healthcare, and business management. Mary was an avid philanthropist and gave her time and resources to a variety of organizations and charities around the world. She always will be remembered as a caring, compassionate, and loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will forever be in our hearts.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday the 5th of March at Demaine Funeral Home at 520 Washington Street, Alexandria VA. A memorial Mass will be at 10:30 AM on Wednesday the 6th of March at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Arlington VA.
