Michael David Robertson, age 75, passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2025 at his home in Mount Vernon, Virginia. He was the beloved husband of his wife Susan (Walker), with whom he shared 25 wonderful years of marriage.
Mike was born in Detroit, Michigan and was the son of Leona and Edgar Robertson. He is survived by his twin sons, Todd and Scott, Todd’s children Alexandra Robertson, April Kremers and her children Madison and Oliver, and Sean Kremers and his children Lily and Delila; Scott’s wife Dana, children Hannah and Jack, and Hannah’s newborn daughter Robin Leona. All of Mike’s sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren live in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area. They were the lights of his life. He is also survived by his brother, Thomas, and wife Ellen who live in Canton, Michigan, and Susan’s mother, Ann Walker, of Fort Washington, Maryland.
During a long and successful career in the contract furniture industry, Mike held sales leadership positions with manufacturers Herman Miller, AllSteel, and dealerships in Michigan, California, Florida and Washington DC. He also belonged to the St. Andrew’s Society.
Mike had a very big heart and a wonderful sense of humor. Even though he was quiet, he could tell tales and spin yarns with the best. Those who knew him valued his wit, generosity, and loyalty. He enjoyed wearing his hat collection to entertain and surprise us all. He loved music – especially The Beatles and James Taylor. Above almost all his interests, he was a passionate Detroit Tigers and Lions fan, following their every game, reveling in their victories and defending their losses.
A celebration of Mike’s life will be held on November 11, 2025, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. where family and friends will be welcomed to his home in Mount Vernon. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the USO, give.uso.org, or to The Alexandria Animal Welfare League, AlexandriaAnimals.org.
