Morjean (Jean) Samuels born November 10,1932 in Chicago, IL to Evelyn (Kaplan) Rogoff and Sam Rogoff. Raised in LaPorte, IN. Sister to Arthur Harold Rogoff. Married Sheldon Wilfred Samuels in Saratoga Springs, NY. Mother of Charles Alan Samuels and Susan Lisa Samuels.
Graduated from renowned finishing school Katharine Gibbs School in Chicago. Attended Roosevelt College in Illinois. Along with husband Sheldon, was a founding member of Temple Sinai in Saratoga Springs, NY where she would host planning meetings in their living room. Retired as Executive Secretary, Agency of International Development, Washington, DC.
Enjoyed gardening and won recognition in a community contest for her backyard when living in Reston, VA. Played tennis and enjoyed camping and traveling. Had a wicked sense of humor, a generous heart, and always practical and on time (if not extremely early). Was supportive and enthusiastic of other people’s achievements. Did not ask for much for herself other than family to spend Thanksgiving together. With grace she accepted her demise of acquiring Lewy Body Disease and was gracious to the end of all the attentive and gentle staff who genuinely cared for her at Tysons Woods Assisted Living in Vienna, VA.
