

Panagiotis Silis was born in Politsiani, a small village in the northern most region of Epirus, Greece. He emigrated to the United States in 1948. Panagiotis met his wife, Calliope in 1960 in Ioannina, Greece. The two were happily married for 54 years. Panagiotis was extremely active in the Greek Orthodox community where he served as an Archon. He spent years working tirelessly in support of numerous Greek philanthropic societies. Panagiotis was well respected in the Alexandria community where he and his wife ran several successful restaurants over the long course of their marriage.

Manny Silis, MD and his wife Christina Silis, MD, George Silis, MD, Thomas Silis, Esquire and his wife Annemarie. Also survived by 3 grandchildren, Katerina, Sophia and Mary Silis; brother of the late Eftihia Tsaoussis. Friends may call at Demaine Funeral Home, 520 S. Washington St., Alexandria, VA on Tuesday January 20, 2015 from 5:00 – 9:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Janaury 21, 2015 at St. Katherine’s Greek Orthodox Church, 3149 Glen Carlyn Rd., Falls Church, VA at 11:00am. Interment will follow at National Memorial Park, Falls Church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Katherine’s Greek Orthodox Church.
