Donna I’m so very sorry to hear of Peter’s passing. I remember him as a very kind person. You will see him in heaven.

Dear Donna and David.

What sad news. Please accept my condolences.

I worked with Peter at Sumitomo for close to twenty years. Reflecting on that past, I think about Peter from two different dimensions. First, professionally, his legal skills and acuity were what one would expect of a Yale Law School/Cravath-trained lawyer. Moreover, he was indefatigable, and gave new meaning to the term “work ethic.” Second, and more importantly, he was a remarkably kind and compassionate person. I cannot recall a single instance in which he made an uncharitable comment about any person, lost his cool, or complained about the heavy professional burdens he carried.

It was a privilege to have known and worked with Peter.

I was so sorry to hear of Peter’s recent passing. His soaring intellect and passion for knowledge were truly inspiring. No subject was off-limits with Peter. One of the brightest minds the world has seen. A true loss to all who knew him.

May his memory be a blessing to both of you in your time of sorrow.

Donna, David

I just heard of Peter passing away. We partnered to do many intersting things while I was with Sumiomo New York. Without Peter, my career would have been different, and I owe him a lot .
His inteligence, his attitude of perfection, and offcourse being just a great guy to be around, has always been talked about by my fellow collegues when we get together in Japan. Sumitomo has lost a legend. Our condolences from Japan.

I cannot regret enough for not keeping in touch enough after both of us retiring from SMBC. He worked so diligently for the team and I was and will be grateful forever.

Please, Donna and David, forgive my having been distant, but I was always thinking about him, as kind of a father figure. Always consulting on the deals, transactions, documentations.

He is a man of integrity and forever my hero for helping out all the time.

Ken Hokugo, former colleague at SMBC New York.

I worked with Peter at SMBC from my arrival in the late 1990s until Peter's retirement. We had many interesting discussions about classical literature and philosophy. Peter's insight on Homer and Horace, to name two disparate authors, was quite fascinating. He was an erudite and kind man. I offer my deepest condolences to the family.

May his memory be a blessing.

He was a man of tremendous integrity -- and he had a sense of humor too.
