It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rolando Roque Álvarez Verastegui, 33, of West Springfield, Virginia. Roque passed away leaving behind cherished memories of a life filled with kindness, determination, and an adventurous spirit.
Born with a brave heart and a compassionate soul, Roque touched the lives of everyone he met. He had a rare gift for listening—always there with thoughtful advice and a comforting presence. Roque also had a natural ability to make anyone laugh and brighten their day without even trying. His humor, warmth, and energy made him unforgettable. To know Roque was to know a friend, a confidant, and a shoulder to lean on. He loved hard, and his closest friends will always remember him as a light in their lives.
Roque graduated from Marymount University with a degree in Communications. His professional career in sales reflected his natural ability to connect with people, but his true passion lay in the hunt for rare and unique treasures. He loved thrift shopping, finding one-of-a-kind items, and matching them with the perfect buyers—a talent that showed his eye for value and his determination to achieve whatever he set his mind to.
Music was one of Roque’s greatest joys. He loved sharing his favorite tunes with the people he loved and always had the perfect song for any moment. Music was how he connected, expressed his feelings, and brought joy to those around him.
Roque was also a passionate animal lover. He had a special place in his heart for rescuing pets whenever he could—often leaving his family with more animals than they expected but never more love than they could handle. Of all the animals he cared for, his beloved cat, Tuna, held a special place in his life. Tuna continues to look for him, but in time will find comfort knowing that one day, they will meet again.
An energetic and driven person, Roque approached life with an unstoppable determination. He had a love for traveling and sightseeing, always eager to explore new places and experiences, making memories along the way. He was truly a people person—full of life, warmth, and light.
Roque was one of a kind. His bravery, kindness, and unwavering support for those he loved will be deeply missed but forever remembered. His family finds comfort knowing he’s watching over them, and they will carry his legacy of love, laughter, and compassion forever.
