I was so saddened to hear the news of Dick's passing away. My condolences to his family.

Dick was at NSF from 1974 to 1999, and had a great influence on our programs in the Atmospheric and Geospace Sciences. He was the program manager for GARP (Global Atmosphere Research Program) at NSF and managed several key field campaigns e.g. GATE and winter MONEX. He was Division Director of Atmospheric Sciences (ATM) from 1992-1999.

I joined ATM back in 1998. I greatly appreciate his mentorship and guidance during my early years in the federal government. I am also grateful for his and Rose's friendship; I have fond memories of enjoying time with them at our Divisional holiday parties. After leaving NSF, Dick was at AMS Policy and our professional interactions strengthened with time. I'm attaching a picture of Dick and Rose from happy times at NSF. RIP Dick.

It is with great sadness that I learned of Dick Greenfield's passing. Dick was one of the most influential people in my life. We worked together in Hartford, CT and at the National Science Foundation. Dick is responsible for transforming my career, supporting and mentoring me for over thirty years. I have nothing but respect and gratitude for Dick. He was a remarkable person who positively transformed my life as well as lives of many other. Included is a picture of Dick, me, and Bernard Grant at NCAR. Bernard was another person who Dick helped in their career. You will be missed, Dick

To Dr. Richard S. Greenfield's Family:

I am so sorry to hear of Dr. Greenfield's passing. I worked with him at NSF. He was a delightful person. He balanced himself with your Mom, Rose.
