I was also one of the radiomen stationed with Bob at CAMSLANT Chesapeake in the mid 80's when he was the OPS boss, and kept in contact with him over the years since. My most fond memories were of his smile and laugh. Remembering something like that speaks volumes on the kind of character that he had. RIP Bob

I just learned of Bob's passing from Dave Walts. Together, Bob, Dave, & I worked at Anteon Corp, Fairfax, VA in the late 90's. As a fellow radioman, I always appreciated Bob's CG tales & communication expertise, not to mention the sticky notes that always adorned his workplace. He made it look so easy, and was always so cool & collected. He was a great man... shipmate, and has contributed to the professional... man I am today.

My sincere condolences to Nancy, his son Chris, and all his family & friends. I will miss you Bob, you were a true inspiration to me and so many others. God Bless you my friend.

"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over." -- Psalm 23:4

With God's Love & Blessings,

Sean Hughes, LCDR, USCGR

Our family remain in shock by the untimely death of Bob who we loved and we considered him a part of our family as well. Thank you Nancy for sharing him with us over the years the two of you have been together. We think he enjoyed his visits to South Hill and we have many great memories. Bob was a very polite, caring and soft-spoken man who we all will miss greatly. He loved the Coast Guard and all that went with his job serving our great Country and we salute him for that. Our prayers will continue for Nancy and Bob's family as we share your loss.
