

She was born on March 9, 1947 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Susan was the eldest of two daughters born to Charles and Clara Palmer. Susan dedicated herself to her family above all else. She was devoted to her two beloved children, Patrick and Maren, whom she raised with endless love. Her home was always meticulously decorated for every holiday while she hosted several parties throughout the year. Susan not only dedicated her life to her family, but was a dedicated civil servant as well. Working for both Naval Air and as a legislative aide to Senator John Glenn. Upon retirement Susan channeled her strong work ethic to Heritage Presbyterian Church where she lead an after-school tutoring program, as well as being involved in Malawi outreach. Susan was a dedicated member of the Nelly Custis chapter of DAR.
Susan is survived by her two children, Patrick and Maren(Joshua), and her cherished granddaughters Libby and Maggie. She also leaves behind her sister Patricia Smith(Andrew), and two nephews, and a wide circle of loving extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph, and both of her parents.
Susan’s spirited generosity, hard work ethic, and dedication to others will be greatly missed.
A funeral for Susan will be celebrated at 10:00AM on Tuesday, December 30th at Heritage Presbyterian Church in Alexandria, Virginia. A luncheon will be held directly after in the church’s Fellowship Hall. The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the service.
