Theresa Fumi Yoneyama

Theresa Fumi Yoneyama, age 74, passed away on August 24, 2022, in Alexandria, VA. She was born in Washington, DC on September 11, 1947, the beloved daughter of Asaye Ichihashi and Sakae Yoneyama. She leaves two sisters, May O'Brien of Mount Vernon and Virginia Yoneyama of Front Royal. She grew up in Alexandria and went to school in Fairfax County. She the co-owner of the Ginza Gift Shop in DuPont Circle.

She spent most of her working life in the DC area, starting at Jefferson Memorial in high school, then serving as Department Secretary to the American University Physics Department for several years. Her second job was at the Big Cheese restaurant in Georgetown and in Baltimore at Harbor Place. She worked as a Legal Secretary for many of years at Wilmer Hale. After becoming ill with diabetes and leukemia, she retired in 2019.

She love traveling around the world, gourmet cooking, photography, eating out and watching TV and movies. She was artsy, creative and loved cats. In lieu of flowers, flowers please a donation to 4paws Rescue, fourpaws.org or to the no-kill animal rescue of your choice.
