Tim was born on November 25, 1961, in Parkersburg, WV, to Judith Tedrick Waller and the late David Hamilton Tedrick. The oldest of four children, Tim spent his youth playing baseball, basketball, and golf, which ignited his lifelong passion for sports.
Tim graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1980 and went on to attend West Virginia University on a golf scholarship. Tim had an outgoing, larger-than-life personality and exhibited an incredible combination of confidence, charisma, and passion that always drew others to him. During his college years he joined the Sigma Chi Fraternity, met his future wife, and participated in intramural sports. Tim graduated from WVU in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology.
On August 19, 1989, Tim married his college sweetheart and the love of his life, Janet Blackwell, following her to her hometown of Alexandria, VA. During their 40 years together as a couple, Tim and Janet built a beautiful life with their four wonderful daughters, Jennifer, Ashley, Jamie, and Angela. Tim and Janet eventually moved from Alexandria to Warrenton where they finished raising their children in the beautiful rolling hills of Fauquier County. Tim and his family shared a strong affection for animals, and there were always many well-loved pets in the Tedrick home. On the drive to school each morning, Tim encouraged his daughters to spot hawks and other birds of prey in an effort to teach them to notice their surroundings and appreciate wildlife. It became a game they would play any time of day throughout their childhood and beyond.
Tim was a self-made, self-employed U.S. government contractor, who founded and ran a successful business for over 30 years. In the early 1990’s, he began his career renovating post offices and later expanded his business to include restoration projects, as well as building, owning, and managing properties. In 1998, Tim had the honor of winning the Award of Excellence in Historic Restoration for his work on the Georgetown Post Office in Washington, DC.
Although Tim spent most of his adult life in Northern Virginia, he never lost his pride and enthusiasm for his home state of West Virginia and alma mater WVU. Tim often wore WVU blue and gold, proudly displayed the Mountaineer sticker on his truck, and attended countless WVU sporting events with family, friends, and Sigma Chi brothers over the years.
Tim was an avid sports fan and was particularly passionate about golf. He played many of the nation's top courses and was a member of the West Virginia Amateur Golf Association. He was a club champion many times over, and a fierce competitor on the course. Tim found solace in the beauty and rhythm of the game, and deeply cherished the many friendships and adventures golf provided him.
In his free time, Tim enjoyed traveling with his wife and daughters. He took his family all over the country with him. Whether it was family trips to the Greenbrier, skiing in Vail and Lake Tahoe, wine tasting in Napa, seeing shows in Vegas, or summer excursions to Bethany Beach, DE, these trips created many joyful memories for his family.
Tim was deeply loved by his family and friends. He leaves behind many who honor and cherish his extraordinary legacy: his loving and devoted wife Janet Blackwell Tedrick; his daughters Jennifer (Chris) Musalo of Old Greenwich, CT; Ashley (Patrick) Ristau of Washington, DC; Jamie Marie Tedrick of Washington, DC; Angela Marilyn Tedrick of McLean, VA; his beloved grandson Christopher Joseph Musalo, Jr.; his mother, Judith Tedrick Waller; his sister Anne (Bob) Humphrey; his brothers Michael Tedrick and Jon (Jubie) Tedrick; and his many nieces and nephews.
Tim’s family will always hold his memory close to their hearts and will love and miss him forever.
A service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at Demaine Funeral Home, 520 S Washington Street, Alexandria, VA 22314.
