Surrounded by her family, Vicki Hughes died peacefully at Mount Vernon Hospital on January 5, 2023. Born in Washington, DC, Vicki grew up in Northern Virginia, and later Southern Maryland, where she graduated from Chopticon High School. Vicki was the daughter of Wallace and Arbutus (Moreland) Logan; both of whom preceded her in death.
Vicki was a talented cook who in earlier years delighted in hosting extended family members for Holiday gatherings. Vicki was also a creative and artistic person who excelled at needlepoint, knitting and crocheting. The handmade Halloween costumes that Vicki made for her children were often the envy of other parents who would then ask which store sold such wonderful creations. One of Vicki’s unique talents was the ability to effortlessly write in reverse such that reading the paper required holding it up to a mirror.
Vicki was a homemaker for many years while raising children. Prior to that, she worked as a loan processor in the mortgage banking industry. After the children were raised, Vicki worked part time as an administrative assistant in the property management industry.
Vicki’s family includes her husband, Vince Hughes and her four children; Lisa (Aaron) Nickas, Antonio (Jessica) Sempronio, Vinnie Sempronio, and Geoffrey Hughes. Other survivors include her grandchildren Kolesen, Enzo, Luciana, Bella, and Milana; as well as her brother Kenneth Wayne Logan and sister Kristi (Bob) Langston. All three of Vicki’s sons served their country as United States Marines.
The family would like to thank the staff at Mount Vernon Hospital for their professionalism and their compassionate care during Vicki’s final hours.
A private service is planned for the Spring. If you would like to express gratitude for Vicki’s life, we invite you to contribute to the US Marine Corps Toys for Tots Foundation, 18251 Quantico Gateway Drive, Triangle, VA 22172.
