"Tink" (Age 89)
Passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at the Mount Vernon Nursing Home, Alexandria, VA. He was born on March 27, 1922 in Norfolk, VA. COL Freesland retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1974 after serving 32 years as a pilot. He flew in both the European and Pacific Theaters during WWII, as well as Korea, and Vietnam. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 46 years, Martha Elizabeth "Betts" Freesland. He is survived by three sons, Richard Freesland and his wife, Susan of Stafford, VA, Douglas Freesland of Columbia, MD and Donald Freesland and his wife, Shelly of Columbia, MD; three grandsons, Richard Freesland, Jr. of Reston, VA, Nickolas Freesland and his wife, Apryl of Waynesboro, PA and David Freesland of Fairfax, VA; three granddaughters, Kimberly Freesland of Stafford, VA, Alison Freesland of Gettysburg, PA and Kyle Freesland of Madison, WI; one great-granddaughter, Quinlynn Freesland of Waynesboro, PA. A funeral service service will be held at Arlington National on Wednesday, November 30th at 2:00pm.
