

America Evila Calderon-Roha, 96, of Apopka, FL, passed away 11 August, 2016 at home surrounded by family and friends. America was born October 12, 1919, in the Province of Manabi, in a town called Salango, in the country of Ecuador. She married Luis Calderon July 20, 1942 in Guayaquil, Ecuador and began raising her family there. America was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, and sister who cherished them all dearly. As a School teacher, she profoundly influenced many a child toward a happier and productive life through education, empathy, and love. Later, she immigrated to the United States with her husband and family to follow the American Dream. In Queens, NY, she worked for the old toy company, IDEAL, making toys and dolls; all the while, enjoying her children and grandchildren. In 1989, she moved to Florida. Already retired, America busied herself with volunteer work at several churches and occasionally babysitting grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of seventy-five years, Luis Calderon; her children Manuel, Grecia, Luis Napoleon, Francia, Xavier, Lucy, Ligia, Eduardo, Belgica, and Luis Dannillo; 36 grandchildren; and 46 great-grandchildren; her siblings Leticia Aurea, Leticia Maria, Samuel, Rosa, Diego; and countless nephews, nieces, cousins, godchildren, in-laws, and friends. Viewing will be Saturday, August 13 5-9pm at Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home in Altamonte Springs at the corner of 436 and Weathersfield across from Best Buy. Memorial and funeral procession will be Monday, August 15 at 10am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on Martin St across from Apopka High School. Funeral procession immediately following to Highland Memory Gardens for interment.
