

With great sadness, we say goodbye to our beloved Charles Norman Ard of Deltona, Florida. Chuck passed away on August 25, 2021, at the age of 81. While it is always difficult to say goodbye to someone we love and cherish, we find solace in remembering the wonderful man that he was.

Mr. Charles "Chuck" Norman Ard, of Deltona, Florida, formerly of Augusta, Georgia, died suddenly on August 25, 2021, at 81 years old.
Chuck was born in Augusta, Georgia, on September 23, 1939, the son of the late R.C. and Jesse Mae Simpson. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on October 2, 1956. Chuck had an illustrious 21-year career traveling the world, where he met his beautiful bride, Manuela Lopez Asencio. On June 3, 1962, they married in Cartagena, Spain. The pair began their journey living the life of a military couple where they would raise their four children. He was a First Class Chief Petty Officer Boatswains mate in the U.S. Navy, serving this great nation and retiring after 21 years. He then went on to work for the Charleston Naval Shipyard in Charleston, South Carolina. Upon retirement from his second career, he and his beloved wife moved and settled in Deltona, Florida.
Chuck liked to stay busy; a few of his hobbies included working in his shed, doing projects around the yard, and helping his fellow neighbors. He also enjoyed having lively conversations with family and friends about relevant topics like current news and what his kids and grandkids were doing. He especially treasured time spent with his family upon their visits!
Charles "Chuck" Ard is survived by his beloved wife, Manuela L. Ard; his children, Robert C. Ard (Lucy) of Tokyo, Japan, Pedro J. Ard of Daytona Beach, Florida, Tina M. Dodd of Orange Beach, Alabama, and David J. Ard (Lori) of Goose Creek, South Carolina. His Grandchildren, Jessica Davis, Jon McCartha (Late), Britney Ard, Alysse Jaeger, Ansley Hartman, Ashton Tanner (Ard), Alayna Ard, David "D.J." Ard Jr, Robert “Bobby” Ard II, Jonathan Ard, Jacob Ard, and Nolan Ard. Great Grandchildren; Caden McCartha, Jackson Thompson, Landon Ranck, Aleigha McCartha, Wesley Ranck, Jesslyn Thompson, Peyton Glader, and Ava McCartha. He was also survived by his youngest sister Ora “Lucy” Chavous, and many nieces and nephews.
He was a strong-willed man until the very end, and his entire family will miss him greatly.
Services--
Family and friends will honor and remember Chuck's life by gathering for a final family viewing at The Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home, 994 E. Altamonte Dr. Altamonte Springs, Fl 32701on Monday, August 30, from 1:00 to 1:30 p.m. He will then be laid to rest with full military honors at the Orlando Memorial Gardens, 5264 Ingram Rd, Apopka, FL 32703 at 2:00 p.m.
