

Donald B. Callahan, 82, of Longwood, FL passed away on May 2, 2015. Don was born to the late John and Francis Callahan in Syracuse, NY on January 6, 1933 and was raised in New York. He served his country in the United States Army as a medic. After leaving the service, Don began his career in the Water Works industry as a salesman. In 1958, he married Martha Himmelberg. Together they adopted and raised 3 children, Mike, Patricia, and Tim. Don was a hard-working man who always kept busy. He enjoyed traveling in his retirement with Martha and their many friends, restoring an old ’55 Ford truck, working in his yard, and spending time with his family. In his lifetime, Don was also the Fire and Water & Sewer Commissioner in King County (Seattle, Washington), coached several youth sports teams and was the co-founder of the Green Country Soccer Association (Tulsa, Oklahoma). He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi of Apopka and served on the Board and was involved in the preparation for many church festivals. Don had an impact on all who knew him and will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. He was preceded in his passing by his brothers, John and Bruce Callahan, and his granddaughter, Alexandra. Don is survived by his wife of 56 years, Martha; children Mike Callahan (Debbie), Patricia Davis (Steve), and Tim Callahan (Nathania); grandchildren Angela, Leah, Brynna, Michael, Robert, and Elizabeth; and great-grandchild JoJo. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 7 from 6-8pm at Baldwin Fairchild West Altamonte, 90 Weathersfield Avenue, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 8 at 10am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 834 S. Orange Blossom Trail, Apopka, FL 32703.
