Donald D. McGinnis

Donald D. McGinnis, 71, of Altamonte Springs, FL passed away on October 2, 2015 in Las Vegas, NV. Don was born on June 14, 1944 to the late June Agnes and Hubert “Shorty” McGinnis in Eccles, West Virginia. He moved to Florida in 1978 and worked as a butcher and meat manager with Albertsons for a majority of his working life. Don was an avid golfer and a true family man. He was known for being silly and sarcastic, and had a gift of making others laugh. He was wonderful with children, especially his 4 grandchildren. He also liked to gamble, whether in Vegas, at horse races, or at the dog track. Don was a loving husband, a great father, and a wonderful grandfather. He will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him. Don was preceded in his passing by his wife, Diane McGinnis, in 1987. He is survived by his daughter, Donna Stearns (Scott); son, Donnie McGinnis; brothers, Ron, Jim, and John McGinnis; sister Nancy Malcom (Brad), and grandchildren Andrew, Emily, and Megan Stearns and Jackson McGinnis; as well as many other close family and friends. A Celebration of Don’s life will be held on Sunday, October 18 at 3pm at Baldwin Fairchild West Altamonte, 90 Weathersfield Avenue, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at http://www.alz.org/join_the_cause_donate.asp.
