He was born on November 3, 1923, in Coconut Grove, Florida, where his love for life, nature, and service first took root.
Frank’s journey of dedication and courage began when he enlisted in the United States Army on December 23, 1944, serving his country during World War II. Following the war, his passion for aviation led him to transition into the United States Air Force, where he became a skilled pilot and later an instructor, shaping the next generation of aviators. After a distinguished military career, Frank retired with the honorable rank of First Lieutenant.
Never one to slow down, Frank continued to pursue his curiosity and intellect, building a successful career as an electrical engineer. Later, his compassion for people and natural gift for conversation led him into the field of life insurance, where he helped countless families prepare for their futures.
Frank was a man of many passions. He loved all kinds of food, from Southern comfort dishes to seafood fresh from the Florida coast. A true outdoorsman, he was an avid hunter who found peace in the woods pursuing turkey and deer, and joy in trout fishing the quiet streams he cherished.
A lover of timeless classics, Frank had a deep appreciation for old Hollywood films and the music of the 1950s. On game days, you could always find him cheering for his first favorite team, the Miami Hurricanes, and later, his beloved University of Florida Gators.
Above all, Frank’s greatest joy came from the love he shared with his wife, Diane Durant, who now carries forward his memory with grace and gratitude. He leaves behind a legacy of honor, laughter, and an enduring zest for life that touched everyone who knew him.
Frank Durant’s life was one of purpose, passion, and pride; an extraordinary century of service, love, and adventure that will never be forgotten.
