

Jean was born in Galloway, Ohio and resided in Hilliard, Ohio until retiring to Longwood, FL in 1994 with her loving husband, Bill.
Jean was active in her children's lives throughout their formative years always supporting their school, sports and other various activities. Jean was a leader in the Camp Fire Girl organization of Central Ohio serving in several capacities.
Jean was a business professional assisting presidents and CEO's of local companies in central Ohio. She was known for her organizational abilities, creative crafting talents, and gracious hostessing skills.
Bill and Jean were very active in the Ohio District of Kiwanis International for several years. After their move to Florida, Jean was a member of First Baptist Sweetwater and was active in Women
on Mission with the church. She always enjoyed having lunch with the WOM ladies at Arby's. For the last 3 years Jean resided at Cascade Heights Independent Living in Longwood, making many new friends and always staying on the go.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Wm. (Bill) Hewson in March of 2022. At the time of Bill's death, they had been married for 69 ½ years. Also preceding Jean are parents Joseph E. and Mamie Stapleton Byrum, brother Marvin Byrum, and sister Rose (Perry) Denman along with Bill's 2 siblings and their spouses.
Jean is survived by her children Becky (Fred) Grimes of Sneads Ferry, NC, Scott (Lynne) Hewson of Louisville, KY, and Lori (Tim) Fowler of Magnolia, KY. Jean is also survived by grandchildren Brian Grimes, Kristen (Stephen) Kimes, Matthew (Emily) Grimes, Whitney (Stuart) Bell, Clay (fiancee Trish) Hewson and great grandchildren Sydney, Holland, Makenzie, Everett, Rylie, and Wyatt. Aunt Jeanie was a favorite aunt to her nieces and nephews. Jean is survived by numerous friends and neighbors in the Longwood area.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank the special friends who were such a support to our mother since our father's passing and especially during the last few weeks of her life. We are very
grateful for your support and friendship to our mother.
A memorial service will be held in Jean's honor on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home in Altamonte Springs, FL. Visitation will begin at 10:30 am, the service will follow at 11:00 am with James (Jim) Wade, Jr. officiating. Jean will be buried alongside her husband, Bill at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery.
