

Joan was born in Duquesne, PA, the only child of Robert Campbell and Helen Zewe Campbell. She graduated from McKeesport High School and attended Lake Erie College for two years. She and her parents moved to Gainesville, Florida where she completed a degree in Art Education at the University of Florida. Beginning with Edgewater High School in Orlando, she taught at Boone, Winter Park, Carver Middle, and Maitland Middle Schools. After completing a Master's in guidance at Rollins College, she worked as a guidance counselor at Howard Middle School for seventeen years. Her most memorable teaching year took place in Frankfurt, Germany where she taught in one of the schools for children of US military personnel. With Frankfurt as a base she visited Italy, Switzerland, Austria, France, Holland, and Spain. She saw firsthand the Louvre, the Prado, and the Sistine Chapel. Joan and her husband of fifty-plus years, Ronald Bryant, loved to travel, and they visited thirteen foreign countries and forty-seven states. Joan passed away September 25, and is survived by her husband, and sons Greg (Shelley) of Denver, CO, and Jeffrey of Fern Park, FL. Services for Joan will be held Saturday, September 30 at 1 pm at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, with a visitation Friday, September 29 from 5 pm - 8 pm at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home, E.
