Linda Ann Mitchell, age 69, beloved wife and mother, passed away on January 6, 2020, at Vitas Parkview in Winter Park, Florida, surrounded by her family, following a period of declining vitality due to complications from dementia.
She was born October 28, 1950, to the late Frank T., Sr., and JoAnn Francis Ballentine in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, settling in Florida after Frank's military retirement. She was married to James Edward Mitchell in 1969, and they raised their family together in Winter Springs. Linda is survived by her husband, James; her daughters Leah (Matthew) Mitchell Fisher, Kristin (Joshua) Hartmann, and Megan Mitchell. She is also survived by her brothers Frank (Linda) Ballentine, Jr. and Ronald (Michael) Ballentine, and by her grandchildren Elizabeth, Olivia, Benjamin, Josephine, and Samuel. She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Ann Francis.
Linda treasured her girls, the center of her life. It was her highest vocation and greatest blessing to use her many talents in service of her calling as a mother. She was famous for her sharp humor and infectious laugh, her peerless chocolate-chip banana bread, and her many artistic pursuits like painting, stained glass, ceramics, and floral arranging. She was a talented gardener; a valued volunteer at her daughters' and nephews' elementary schools; and a fiercely loyal friend.
But in all things and in all ways, her girls came first. Her love for them was extravagant, selfless, and joyful, and she would want to be remembered most for being a loving mother.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2020, at 11 a.m. at the Baldwin-Fairchild East Altamonte Chapel, 994 East Altamonte Dr., Altamonte Springs, Florida.
