Captain Maureen Daniels was my superior officer, nurse recruiting New York City. I was her noncommissioned officer in charge of her team, she was always positive bubbly and helpful. I was inspired by Maureen.  I can see here face clearly in my mind because I was just with her June 26 at ASPE.  We had a very happy and amazing conversation about veterans health and the way she believed nursing would change through simulation.  She was a respected and admired colleague.  So so sad to hear of her passing.  She is and always be an inspiration to me.

Maureen made such a difference in my life. She taught me as a nursing student and then continued to mentor me professionally as I started my nurse educator career at Seminole State College. Her passing leaves a huge void in everyone's life, especially mine.

Maureen's passing so early is such a devastating loss on many levels. It's a monumental loss not only to her family, friends and colleagues but to the field of nursing. As we know she was close to finishing her doctorate and who knows how her research could have helped so many people. She worker harder and longer than practically anyone I know. We shared a passion for jewelry and fashion. We spent many moments of mutually admiring our outfits and accessories. I enjoyed talking with her about anything. Her mind was so amazing, multifaceted and complex. I was just happy that I could keep up with her. Maureen's presence in a room was larger than life but truly it was her kind heart that was big. I am heart broken that my friend and mentor is no longer here on earth. But I know she has been welcomed into heaven with wide open arms and heaven is a better place with her in it. I hope that your are breathing easy my friend and enjoy using your angel wings to help others. Love you, Ilyse

A huge, warm, loving hug. That was how Maureen greeted me, when I first met her in the fall of 2015 in Denmark.
We met during a Simulation conference over the course of two days, and even if it was only for such a short period of time, she made an everlasting impression  both with the hug, but also because she so openly, warmly and passionately told about her family and her work. Such an amazing life and such amazing accomplishments. 
She will certainly be missed by everyone who knew her. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

To my friend, I will miss you immensely. I met you first when I came to Seminole and I am forever grateful for the support you gave me. You have touched so many of us in so many ways. You are simply irreplaceable.

Maureen was dedicated to her family, her students, and to her colleagues. I was looking forward to working with her this fall in the veteran simulation that she worked so hard to add to our program. She was so warm, intelligent and passionate about teaching and lifelong learning. The smile we see in this picture was Maureen's every present look. Such a positive person and beautiful soul. She saw the sunshine in even the darkest situation. I worked with Maureen at Florida Hospital and then as she was faculty at Seminole State College. My most recent memory was a chance meeting a few months ago at UCF. She was so happy doing what she was doing in her work career and in her family life. My prayer is that wonderful memories sustain her family through this heartbreaking time.

I worked with Maureen at Florida Hospital and later hosted her students at Altamonte OB.  She was always friendly, supportive to staff and students, and fun to be around.  She will be missed by those who knew her.

We at the UCF College of Nursing mourn Maureen's passing.  She embraced learning, supported fellow students, and was goal driven.  Her passing was way too soon.

So many people were blessed by Maureen's willingness to share her talents.  The lives she touched will spread her wisdom, kindness and goodness.  Her legacy casts a wide net.

As the Chief Program Officer of the National League for Nursing (NLN), I want to express my most sincere sympathy to Maureen's family and colleagues.  Maureen was dedicated to the work of the NLN; she served on numerous committees and most recently was instrumental in piloting many of the simulation cases which are now used widely by nursing faculty throughout the United States, Europe and Asia.  No one had more energy than Maureen and she will be remembered fondly at the NLN by all of us for her spirit for excellence, her warm smile and her generosity to new and emerging nursing faculty. I was stunned to hear of Maureen's death what a great lady ,nurse and friend .  We worked together at Florida Hospital Orlando on the Mother-Infant Unit.  She was a role model for all the nurses on the unit  She loved the babies and I am so happy that she had three sons to love and nurture. In 2001 Maureen visited me after an illness and gave me a pillowcase that she had stitched the following : God commands His angels to guard you in all of your ways  Psalms. It is great sadness that I think of Maureen today. She was my colleague and friend for almost 30 years.  Maureen was a creative genius in the classroom, with nursing simulation experiences and curriculum innovations and an artist with her sewing and quilting skills.  Maureen's life was one of service and love.  She loved her family and was caring, empathetic and compassionate in all her relationships.  Maureen was the best of us.  The earth lost a shining star and heaven gained one.  May she find peace on the other side until we meet again.

It is with great sadness that we learned of the untimely death of Maureen Tremel.

We came to know Maureen in 2011 when we started our collaboration with Seminole State College and later through our recurrent visits, where Maureen would always welcome us with great warmth. 
We were enriched with Maureen's extensive knowledge and vast experience in the field of simulation, and when in her company, talking about simulation, she would make everything seem so easy, with only the sky as the limit. You would immediately sense success in everything she was part of.

We had the great pleasure of her warm and lovely personality, her beautiful spirit and her quick wit, when she came to speak at our Simulation Conference in Denmark in the fall of 2015. Both professionally and personally, Maureen laughed a lot, always a wonderful, heartfelt laughter, and she had an exquisite capacity for being open and welcoming to everyone. She was a very special woman, and we are lucky to have been honored with her friendship.

May her beautiful spirit rest in peace.

What a beautiful person. She was the epitome of a professional and generously shared her knowledge freely with colleagues and students alike. Maureen was larger than life and was an influence even when not physically present. She was the driving force that encouraged us to go beyond our comfort level, then supported us when we did. Maureen was such a wonderful woman! She was dedicated to all;  her students, colleagues, but especially to her family. I remember late nights with her at school, reviewing every question on an exam to be sure the questions were fair. Her mind reeled with knowledge she wanted to impart to students, and she rarely could get it all said in one class period. Watching her present a theoretical concept at a conference was mesmerizing. I finally understood it! 
I was so looking forward to working with her this fall! I am sad to have lost a great friend.

I recall hiring Maureen more than 20 years ago and thinking we were so lucky to have her join our team! She proved to be invaluable in so many ways. Her strong faith was an inspiration.

I met Maureen in 2008, when she was selected to be a Health Information Technology Scholar.  We bonded right away.  It was easy to see what a smart, creative and dedicated educator she was, with that extra passion for simulation.  But what stood out much more than that was her warm and generous heart  as big as all outdoors.  She loved her family and spoke of them often.  I was delighted to meet her son, who was a great standardized patient, and who will miss her terribly, along with other family members and friends.  She touched so many student lives and she left this world a much better place than she found it.  Rest in peace Maureen.

I will miss Maureen. She was a colleague, friend, and scholar.  We had such fun traveling together.  Maureen loved angels and now she is one.   Rest in peace Mo......

I met her at the hospital the day Carter was born.  It was our only meeting, and I liked her immediately.  She was a remarkable and impressive person who touched a lot of people's lives through her teaching.

So sad to hear about Professor Tremel's passing. Professor Tremel had a true passion for teaching and did so with alot of enthusiasm. It was a pleasure  being one of her nursing students. Praying for the family. May God bless you.

I remember the Pharmacology class Professor Tremel taught like it was yesterday. It was the first semester of the nursing program when I didn't know what to expect and knew nothing about how to think like a nurse. She is known for simulation of real life communication about patients. Her class is where I truly began to understand SBAR (Situation Background Assessment Recommendation). She also had guided reading where she provided questions or topics that required reading the text and filling in the answers to focus our minds on the importance of analyzing the effects of medications on patients. I also appreciate the medication profile sheets we had to complete with the type of medication, drug class, most severe and common side effects and notes to myself that were important about medications. Due to her teaching style, I know that I will be a better nurse. I never felt lost about what she knew was important in caring for patients. She was a part of the beginning of my nursing school journey and I never knew that looking back I would consider her one of the best professors in the program. Prayers to her family, friends, and colleagues.

I am so saddened to hear of Prof. Tremel's passing. I had the privilege of being one of her students at Seminole State College of Nursing. She was a light, a joy, and a constant source of encouragement for many, including myself. She was always ready with a smile and a sincerely friendly greeting. I remember how she made me feel so at ease when discussing the ups and downs of nursing school, a true testament to her greatness as a professor, teaching and guiding outside the classroom as well as from within. Well after graduation, we spoke and she remembered me, remembered my name, which seemed like quite the accomplishment given all of the students she had taught and people she had met. I was able to tell her before, but I'll say it again: Thank you, Professor, for believing in me...that I would make it...and for encouraging me through the nursing program. I did make it.

She was always happy and smiling.... sometimes a little kooky with a dash of ADHD but thats what made her special! Great teacher and nurse! My sincerest condolences to all who are greivng at this time. May she rest well in Paradise!

Maureen was a friend and a mentor, her untimely passing comes as a great shock. Her brilliant mind and devotion to educating students on veteran issues added greatly to student learning and care of our veterans. Her legacy will live on in our hearts and minds.

 The first person I laid eyes on in homeroom in 1968 at IHA was Maureen. You couldn't miss her beautiful friendly spirit as she walked around laughing and talking to everyone. 
 She made high school the place it was for me and we shared a very wonderful and warm Friendship.  When her son Sean was born it was such a joy to see her joy. When her son Frank was born the same was true. We traveled together, talked laughed and cried.  College summers at the Jersey shore Jersey in Belmar  with the Seton Hall frat guys were a blast. She had such a creative spirit. She could sew anything. She  made my son the most beautiful quilt when he was born that we hung in his nursery for years. She could name every Disney character and could make everyone of their costumes better than Disney. She was an amazing nurse always on the cutting edge of anything that could help her patients. 
My sincerest condolences to her family, her husband her sisters,her brother, her mom and her two wonderful boys.

So sorry to hear of Maureen's passing. She touched so many lives and will greatly be missed. Prayers for the family.

My heart is heavy as I am faced with putting into words what Maureen meant to me.  We started at Seminole State on the same day and traveled a journey that was so much more than working together.  We were there for each other through the joys and tragedies that we faced in life.  Maureen gave so much of herself to others and  asked so little in return.  Her creative spirit is a great loss to us all.  Rest in peace dear friend.  We will see each other again.

My heart is sad.  She was a great person, gave so much and touched so many lives.  She will be missed by many. I was one of her nursing students.

Maureen was in a phrase..." all things good". Bright, funny, focused, caring, creative and loving are the words I would use to describe her and our interactions over the years. May God put his loving arms around those many individuals who are feeling this loss, but especially her family. What a lovely lady and how lucky we were to have her touch our lives.
