Maureen Daniels Tremel, whose skillful dedication to nursing and teaching touched countless lives, died unexpectedly on Aug. 6, 2016. Born Aug. 24, 1954, Maureen will be remembered for her selfless commitment to the service of others, as a nurse, an educator, and a devoted daughter, sister, cousin, mother, wife, aunt and grandmother. After receiving a BSN from Seton Hall and an MSN from the University of Florida, Maureen served her nation as a Major in the U.S. Air Force as a clinical nurse, OB/Gyn nurse practitioner and nurse recruiter, and later as an EVAC Nurse in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. Settling in Central Florida, Maureen began a 30-year career as a nursing educator and mentor, building on her military experience in the emerging field of clinical simulation and her passion for engaging and inspiring her students for lifelong careers in nursing. As a Nursing Professor at Seminole State College of Florida, she was recognized as a visionary educator whose expertise in simulation technology was instrumental in earning a national reputation for the college’s nursing program. A strong believer in her faith, Maureen will be remembered by her family and friends for her eager willingness to be an active part of their lives. Impeccable in her dress and jewelry, and generous with her talents, she was always there, both to support them in times of trouble and to celebrate times of joy, whether making a wedding dress for a beloved niece or creating beautiful wedding cakes for the entire family.
