

Michael Luis Lloyd Crooks, 59, of Altamonte Springs, FL passed away on April 30, 2017. He was born to Asbert Lloyd and Deta B.Y. Crooks in Kingston, Jamaica on July 15, 1957. Michael, affectionately known as “Spike” and “Big Mike,” was a beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, and friend. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Michael received his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and working various jobs throughout his lifetime. Michael was a dependable friend and trusted advisor to many, and was best described as being “Dear Abby” to everyone he came in contact with. Many people would turn to Michael for advice and help after learning of his compassion for helping people and giving them well-developed and thoughtful feedback. He was generous, giving to anyone he could tell was in need, especially strangers. Michael was a very strong individual, both physically and mentally. He was also lovable and kind, with an infectious nature that touched those around him. Michael was a genuine man with a strong heart and loved deeply. He also liked animals, especially his cat, Patchez. He leaves behind a legacy of love and will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him. Michael was preceded in passing by his father, Asbert Lloyd Crooks. He is survived by his wife, Kim Crooks; his mother, Deta B. Crooks; his siblings, Ray Crooks (and his wife Marilyn) and Michelle Crooks; his nephews, RJ Crooks and Christopher Lloyd Crooks; his close cousins, Ariel Smith, Lizanne Smith, and Garry Richardson; his aunts, Ena Pearce, Sonia Crooks and Winnie Crooks; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends (including long-time bosom buddies, Vanessa Chen, Donovan Ho-Yen). A celebration of Michael’s life will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 10:00am at Baldwin Fairchild West Altamonte, 90 Weathersfield Avenue, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Baldwin Fairchild, a Dignity Memorial Provider.
