Jan. 8, 1947 – Dec. 10, 2025
Tom was the son of Rayburn T., Sr. and Aldia LaVigne Milwee. He was born in Orlando at the old Orange Memorial Hospital and spent his entire life living in Central Florida (less his college years in GA). He attended Seminole County schools and graduated from Lyman High School. After graduation he went to Georgia Southern University and earned a degree in Education.
He returned to Seminole County and taught at Teague Middle and Milwee Middle Schools. He next attended Rollins College and earned his masters degree in guidance counseling, ending up at Lake Brantley High School. He spent the next 30 years there before retiring. He loved his work and was always ready to help both students and as well as teachers. He especially liked working with colleges and universities. He was on several committees to stimulate communication between the colleges and the public schools.
Tom met Judy McKenzie at Georgia Southern and she also came to live in Seminole County where they were married. They spent 53 years together, going on as many adventures as they could fit in. Travelling the world became a mission after they retired. Tom continued to want more travel even, as his health was changing.
Those left behind are his wife Judy, his brothers, George and wife Barbara, niece Shannon Saftenburg and nephew Allen Milwee, and several great nieces and nephews. He is also
survived by Gerry Egger, Karen and Don Lewis and Madison Lewis, his family by marriage.
There are too many people that Tom loved and loved him to mention. We do want to include Darvin and Chris Boothe who became life long friends.
Tom was impacted by many things but one of the things he loved the most were his animals. The 5 Persian cats have been a source of unconditional love and happiness. Spirit, Matisse, Mozart, Lyric, and Dreams are going to miss their Tom.
I want to thank his incredible team of Doctors, Dr. Azfal, Dr. Calamino and Dr. Franchiski for their compassion and dedication to helping Tom. The nurses at Advent Health Altamonte will always be my heroes.
Tom will be profoundly missed and would want to be remembered with a smile. There will be a celebration at some later date and for now all he would want is for you to live your best life. If you would like, you could make a donation to the charity of your choice in Tom’s name.
