
Raymond was born in Richland Center, Wisconsin on November 20, 1945. He was the first in his family to be born in a hospital, his parents and siblings were born on the family farm.
Raymond graduated from West Lima High School, WI in 1964. Raymond went on to attend Surveyors College in Platteville, WI and in 1966 earned an Associate of Science degree. He continued his education at the Wisconsin School of Electronics and earned an Electronic Engineering Technology degree in 1968. Upon graduation, he received 6 job offers and accepted a position with ITT (International Telephone & Telegraph Corporation) (1968-1986). His work with ITT took him overseas to Germany for several years working with NATO and the Department of Defense. He was involved with top secret technology being developed in the 70’s. From 1986 - 1991, Raymond’s work moved him from Florida to Plano, Texas. His desire to return to Florida lead him to accept a position with Siemens where he settled in Winter Springs. During this time, he served as the President of the Mt. Greenwood HOA.
Raymond enjoyed traveling around the world for his work, on vacations and to visit friends and family. He showed his love for family by being involved as much as possible with graduations, weddings, anniversary celebrations and funerals, even if that meant traveling distances overseas to be with his loved ones.
Raymond was known for his smile and a quick wink that brought a smile. He was a true gentleman with his polite, humble, and generous spirit. He had a passion for NASCAR, football and watching space shuttle launches.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Avis Arvilla (Turner) Spangler; sisters Alice D. Ramsden and Wilma Porter; and, niece Rebecca Porter.
Raymond is survived by brother Roger (Charlene) Spangler; 7 nieces and nephews: Connie (Rick) Rieder, Kendall (Carole) Ramsden, Jane (Joe) Flynn, Daniel (Sharon) Porter, Allison (Rodney) Moore, Rachel (Curtis) Compton, and Ruth Porter; 7 grand nieces and nephews and 3 great, grand nephews.
A celebration of Raymond’s life will be held later this year when he will be laid to rest with his family in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Wisconsin.
